Chocolate Fondue

Chocolate fondue home made

Here’s a classic recipe for chocolate fondue:

Ingredients:

  • 8 ounces good-quality chocolate (dark, milk, or a combination), finely chopped or in chips
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • Assorted dippables: strawberries, banana slices, pineapple chunks, marshmallows, pretzels, cubed pound cake, etc.

Instructions:

  1. In a small saucepan over medium-low heat, warm the heavy cream until it starts to simmer, but do not let it boil.
  2. Place the finely chopped chocolate or chocolate chips in a heatproof bowl.
  3. Pour the hot cream over the chocolate and let it sit for 1-2 minutes to soften the chocolate.
  4. Gently stir the mixture with a whisk or spoon until the chocolate is completely melted and smooth. If needed, you can briefly microwave the mixture in short intervals, stirring in between, to ensure it’s fully melted.
  5. Stir in the vanilla extract until well combined.
  6. Transfer the chocolate mixture to a fondue pot or a heatproof serving bowl that can keep the fondue warm.
  7. Light the fondue burner or set the pot over a low flame to keep the chocolate warm and melted, stirring occasionally.
  8. Arrange the assorted dippables on a platter or in individual bowls for dipping.
  9. Use fondue forks, skewers, or toothpicks to dip the fruits, marshmallows, cake, or other items into the warm chocolate fondue and enjoy!

Tips:

  • If the fondue thickens while serving, you can stir in a tablespoon of cream at a time to reach the desired consistency.
  • Feel free to add a tablespoon of your favorite liqueur, such as Grand Marnier or amaretto, for extra flavor if desired.

This chocolate fondue is a delightful and interactive dessert that’s perfect for gatherings or a cozy night in!
