Bruschetta

Bruschetta is a classic Italian appetizer that’s simple to make and bursting with fresh flavors. Here’s the recipe:

Bruschetta

Ingredients:

  • 4-5 ripe tomatoes, diced
  • 1-2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/4 cup fresh basil leaves, chopped
  • 2 tablespoons extra-virgin olive oil
  • 1 tablespoon balsamic vinegar (optional)
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 baguette, sliced into 1/2-inch thick pieces
  • Olive oil for brushing the bread
  • Optional: Balsamic glaze for drizzling

Instructions:

  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a mixing bowl, combine the diced tomatoes, minced garlic, chopped basil, extra-virgin olive oil, balsamic vinegar (if using), salt, and pepper. Toss gently to combine. Let the mixture sit at room temperature while you prepare the bread.
  3. Place the baguette slices on the prepared baking sheet. Lightly brush each slice with olive oil on both sides.
  4. Bake the bread slices in the preheated oven for about 8-10 minutes, flipping halfway through, until they’re crispy and lightly golden.
  5. Once the bread is done, remove it from the oven and let it cool for a minute or two.
  6. Spoon the tomato mixture generously onto each slice of toasted bread.
  7. Optionally, drizzle a bit of balsamic glaze over the bruschetta for extra flavor.
  8. Serve immediately as a delightful appetizer or snack.

Variations:

  • You can add diced onions, chopped olives, or a sprinkle of grated Parmesan cheese to the tomato mixture for extra flavor.
  • For a twist, try using different bread varieties like sourdough or ciabatta.

Enjoy this simple and vibrant Bruschetta as a delicious starter or a light snack, perfect for gatherings or as a quick bite!
